Distance Education (Week 10)

Introduction Hello everyone and welcome to the last post of this blog. Today, we learned about distance learning and this topic caught my interest as I am currently a student who is studying in this mode. Distance learning is defined as delivery of instruction to students  who are separated from their teacher by  time and/or location. As for in my case, my main campus is in Kuala Lumpur, but I am studying in Pulau Pinang, which is far for daily travel.  Distance education affects teachers by offering flexible licensing renewal and/or  profe ssional development causing them to rethink the conventional nature of instruction which is chalk and talk. Distance learning provides the environment where teaching and learning are no longer among the 4 walls but across districts, states and countries. Introduction Hello everyone and welcome to my fifth post. Today we learned the Audiovisual technology usage in the teaching and learning of Mathematics. As per the definition, audiovisual means  possessing both a sound and a visual component in a single device or item such as a film or a TV program.  Examples of Audio/Visual/Digital Technologies We discussed a few interesting examples whilst observing the evolving of technologies over the years. Using the Web for Teaching and Learning Mathematics (Week 8)

Introduction Hello everyone and welcome back to my fourth post. In this week, we were introduced to the World Wide Web and making the most of the internet resources and we gained some ideas about web-enhanced instruction, website design, web tools and academic website evaluation. Firstly, we learned that World Wide Web is actually a system of Internet servers that support specially formatted documents. There are several applications called Web browsers that make it easy to access the World  Wide Web. The two of the most popular ones are Firefox and Microsoft's Internet Explorer.  WWW Elements and their meanings However, I did come across something interesting that is the World Wide Web is not the same with the Internet. As a student, I grew up believing that both were merely the same.
